About

Risa Jackson

I've loved reading and writing since I was about 4 years old when I read my first book — The Autobiography of John F. Kennedy. I remember getting upset because I thought my book had a typo. JFK's mother had so many children she couldn't remember which had had measles and which had had mumps. I couldn't wrap my little brain around "had had."

Since then, I've learned to listen to my inner proofreader/editor as it reminds me to ensure my writing is simple and easy to understand. I studied Creative Writing at the University of California at Berkeley, which nurtured my love of storytelling.

I've written quantitative and qualitative questionnaires and research summaries for decision-makers at Brookshire Grocery Company. For the past 6+ years, I've also crafted every kind of marketing collateral for edtech companies Mentoring Minds and Curriculum Associates.

I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but now live in Flint, Texas, with my cats, Simba and Mia. I love to push the limits of my creativity in other ways — cooking, home remodeling, hairstyling (for friends), and home decor.
